The Mother Lode Chapter of Flying Samaritans was established in 1977 and draws active members from Central and Northern California.

Mother Lode operates a monthly clinic, Alma Luminosa, at San Quintin, on the Rancho Los Pinos, approximately 200 miles south of the border. Clinics are held the second Saturday of each month except for Easter and Mother's Day weekends, when they are held on the third weekend of the month, if there is a conflict.
